CORS BODEILIO SSSI (and SAC and Ramsar site)

A fine example of the "rich fens" of Anglesey. This wetland, which is mostly a National Nature Reserve, supports areas of lime-rich fen with characteristic plants such as great fen sedge, black bog rush an blunt-flowered rush with a fine array of orchids including fly orchid. Medicinal leech occurs in some of the pools and barn owls regularly quarter the ground. Much of the land is grazed by Welsh Mountain ponies which may be curious- don't encourage them! Access is on public footpaths and a new boardwalk across the fen. The westernmost field is a Common and therefore open to public access, but beware the old peat diggings which make walking very difficult.
