GLAN-TRAETH SSSI (and SAC)

This small site, by the roadside north of Newborough village, comprises a series of pools in a former sand quarry which support an internationally important population of great crested newt. The area also contains interesting plant in the dune grassland including early sand grass and meadow saxifrage.  The site is designated a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) for its great crested newts. There is no public access.
